Auto Champion

Picture of the John Hunt Auto Champion pie machine

A new machine based on tried and trusted components. The unique 7 station format enables a customer to use and control all the operations from the front of the machine making it very space friendly. The machine can be supplied with a pastry depositor and automatic filler. Or these units can be purchased separately and added to the machine at a later date. In other words the degree of automation can be adjusted to suit the needs of the client.

The machine requires a constant 6 bar compressed air supply. The combination of hydraulics and pneumatics gives the best of both worlds. Hydraulics give the power and squeezing action essential for forming pastry - whilst pneumatics give the speed essential for modern production processes. All operations are controlled by a powerful Mitsubishi PLC, including diagnostics.

Capacity is 250 mm od. For smaller sizes twin headed dies are available up to 125 mm od. Speeds are variable depending on the size of product. Die changing is quick and easy. No more than 2 minutes.

New in 2012, a pasty die set is available as an option on the Auto Champion for higher volume production. A depositor can also be included to dispense the filling. See the new video and contact the office for details.

The Aero Champion is the newest of the John Hunt pneumatic pie and tart machines and is available in single or 2 station formats. This machine brings several important and useful features at a breakthrough price.

It has been designed as an entry level machine, between the Little Champion and the AM300 range. This machine is not as powerful as the AM300 range but is ideal for products up to 250 mm diameter x 30 mm deep. Twin headed dies can be fitted up to 120 mm diameter. As well as thermostatic temperature control, compressed air release system it can also be fitted with our clever container ejection system. This lifts the container from the base to enable easy removal by the operator.

AL 400

Picture of the John Hunt AL 400 pie machine

The AL 400 is John Hunts most powerfull high speed, fully adjustable 5 ton press for pies, tarts and flans or any shape and up to 300mm diameter to 380mm longest Side. Production rates or 600 to 800 an hour have been achieved and the moulding die temperature is thermostatically controlled with air release selection.

There are no painted surfaces and stainless steel is widely used. Ease or cleaning was a major consideration In the design or this machine. An efficient safety guard protects the operator and the machine runs off an air supply of 6 bar or more.

AM 300

The AM 300 is a pneumatic pie and tart machine available in single or 2 station formats. This machine has several important and useful features.

Die equipment can be transferred from existing Little and Medium Champion Crypto Omatic Standard, Omatic Minor and Handamatic pie machines with only minor modifications and can be fitted with an air release system.

Other common features includes thermostatic temperature control, adjustable dwell at the bottom of the stroke and an efficient guard for the protection of the user It has a capacity of up to 300mm diameter and double headed dies up to 140 mm diameter.

The AM 300RT has a 2 station rotary Indexing table which allows the operator to load and unload the next container during the production cycle, therefore allowing for vastly improved workflow. Full PLC control of many important features including - speed of index, dwell time, pressure applied, duration of air blast, and air pressure of container release system. Also as an optional extra our clever container ejection system (for easy removal of containers by the operator) using compressed air cylinders.

8 Station

Picture of the John Hunt 8 Station pie machine

The Hunt 8 Station semi automatic pie machine represents all that is best in modern innovative design. It is built with Hunt's legendary attention to quality and hygiene and offers the added advantage of having 8 stations (5 of which are permanently outside the guard) as opposed to its competitors' 6 stations. This means that the operator has 65% more time to load and unload the table without reducing the overall potential production rate of 1800 - 2000 pieces per hour.

The die equipment is electrically heated and thermostatically controlled to ensure optimum working temperature and is fitted with air release to prevent distortion of the aluminium foil cases during the forming operation.

As with all Hunt machines, top priority has been given to ensuring ease of cleaning and safety or the operator. These machines have earnt the CE mark, indicating that definitive EEC safety standards have been met or exceeded.

Additional facilities include :

Variable speed control. Allows you to speed up or slow down the machine according to the size or type of product being manufactured. Also this facility is necessary if you want to link pastry dividing and /or product depositing.
Cam operated container ejection system (aids easy removal of the containers by the operator).
PLC control enables other features such as pastry dividing etc to be linked to the machine. Ask for details.

Champion Pie Machine

Picture of the John Hunt Champion pie machine pie machine

The Champion range of machines is completely hand operated (little and medium sizes) and can produce up to 400 shells per hour. Higher capacities can be met with semi automatic machines from the John Hunt range with capacities up to 2000 shell per hour. The handed operated machines are simple to use, so even completely unskilled staff can carry out blocking operations. Change over of dies, for different shapes or pie lids can be carried out quickly and also requires no skilled knowledge.

A wide variety of dies are available for use with hand operated or semi automatic machines. so that an infinite variety or shapes and sizes of pastry product or pie can be made. Electrically heated hot process dies are spring loaded to prevent "sticking" or containers in the blocking operation.

To improve the presentation of products and at the same time increase production we have designed a number of inexpensive but really useful facilities that can be added to the standard machines.

1. Compressed air release system (requires inexpensive compressed air) The air system fulfills two purposes. First it helps release the container. Secondly (particularly with aluminium foil, card or paper containers) it prevents the underside of the container being distorted through suction. It holds the base of the container flat, which obviously improves the baking characteristics.

2. Container ejection system. Again using compressed air the container is raised from the base to make it easier to remove by the operator thereby increasing productivity.

All in all, the Champions provide a range of cost effective, easy to use and highly versatile machines

As with the traditional "pie/tart" shape, the pastry concept allows for any specialist market to be catered for simply by varying the pastry recipe and filling.

Moulds for use with the Hunt pastry machine are manufactured in aluminium and dies or various styles and sizes are available up to 6 inches in length.

Planetary Mixer

Picture of a John Hunt planetary mixer

For over 50 years. Hunt Planetary Mixing machines have earned an unrivalled reputation of reliability and efficiency. These are heavy-duty machines with tooling and accessories to match.

Main assemblies have been developed under the most strenuous of operating conditions. Changes have been made only when new materials and components have been proved to be consistently better than those they are replacing. Over 15,000 machines have been sold world-wide, and like Rolls-Royce, most of these machines are still in use today

Service and parts availability are obviously critical areas of concern in the decision-making process and John Hunt have consistently scored very highly in these important areas.

Manufacture of new machines has been discontinued. We still offer a full service for spare parts etc and continue to rebuild HUNT machines to the highest standard. Generally machines are completely stripped, paintwork removed and then all the castings are electroless nickel plated. This is corrosion free process which is a considerable improvement on painted surfaces. We have all the facilities, "know how" and spare parts to complete these machines to the highest standard.

As with all John Hunt machinery, safety was a major consideration in the design process and the Planetary mixers can be supplied with heavy-duty all stainless steel guards.
